My Journey
My name is Jose Villanueva and I live in a small town where there is not much to do, my days go by a dedicated student. I was born on June 26, 1998. I am the third child of a family of six. Ever since I remember I occupy most of my life in a town called Lindsay, CA. My parents came from a difficult childhood that made them decide to come to the United States to have a better life in this world. I want to thank my parents for allowing me to have an opportunity for a better life. I want to be a great student for the sacrifice they made when they were young when they came to the United States. They have proven to me that everything is possible even though we are neither rich nor poor. We have achieved so many things. For example, I look up to my sister because she is trying her best to succeed in life which is not easy. She is currently attending CSU Sacramento to achieve her bachelors of science in nursing. This brings my hopes up because this proves that everything is possible, but it’s going to take a lot of dedication to be someone in life.
Although California is well known for its agricultural; it was then when I thought about getting a better job. I knew I did not want to suffer like my parents did so I challenged myself to become someone with a career and not just a job. My family is considered low income and medical insurance was not an option for us. I notice that in order to be an American dream I had to follow my dreams and never give up. This made me think about what I was going to do with my life when I was older but out of nowhere I thought about me being an architecture. I first knew that I had to get an education to follow my dreams. Every kids dream is different like mine which inspired me to be architecture.
Due to many times of me playing with legos it; I realized that I wanted to follow a career in the architecture field. Many times, I caught myself looking at images of building since I didn’t have anybody to teach me the basic stuff of being architecture. This career help me realized that I could make a difference in the community by helping built home shelters for necessary people or even help people plan their dream house.
So therefore I want to achieve this goal to prove my parents that everything can be done but it takes a lot of effort. This wouldn’t only show that I have the ability to be someone in life but make my parents proud of me at the end. All this hard work staying up late doing homework would pay off when I graduate.
